Three easy fall trends to make your living space cozy.
As summer fades and tree leaves deepen, we celebrate the shorter days, crispness in the air, the smell of rain and the anticipation of cozy fall traditions. One of our favorite fall traditions is making our home feel like fall by transitioning our living spaces into a cozy-induced state with fall colors and design –it’s a number summer just can’t pull off.
A large trend in 2023 has been all about creating a cozy space (and calming retreat) within your home. Whether it is a favorite throw or new warm paint color, below are three trends we are seeing this fall and how to work them into your living space.
1. Texture and visual interest

The plush-piled textile called bouclé is not new, but its re-emergence across all home categories is. Bouclé is huge right now, and it adds next level comfort to your space. Because of its visual appeal and soft texture, it’s the easiest (and our favorite) way to make your home a little cozier. Mix and match with a soft flannel plaid pattern in fall colors to level up your fall decor.
a. One of our favorite throws is the Oversized Alpaca Throw by Parachute for $289.00, which is incredibly warm and offers exceptional quality and value. This throw is bigger than most (60″x80″) making it easier to cover two at the same time –eliminating blanket wars on the sofa.
b. Popular interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel launched her bouclé collection which is both trend-right while remaining classic. We love the round organic shape of her Bouclé Ball Pillow for $64.00 and the softer slate-blue works well with almost every fall hue.
c. The plushest-piled chair to melt into is from the new Banana Republic Home brand, the BR Home Sonoma Sheepskin Chair. The natural merino visually draws you in, but its softness invites you to stay and relax. The rich brown is a key color this season and very versatile. This stunning cozy centerpiece will take your living room comfort to the next level for many years to come.
d. The dreamy BR Home Heritage Shearling Pillow features plush New Zealand shearling. For the brand’s debut, they spared no expense and it’s a great choice for anyone looking for a luxurious natural fibre alternative.
e. For a classic and versatile bouclé throw pillow, we chose the World Market Oversized Textured Bouclé pillow, at $34.99, it’s a great value for a timeless staple.
2. Organic shapes and materials
Soft, rounded edges and statement pieces in natural materials like wood or stone have been a strong trend this year in interior design and decor. The organic lines that mimic nature are calming and offer a reprieve from the chaos of our fast paced lives. Below are a few ideas for different products– even a small display of natural elements can have a huge impact in creating a relaxing warm space.

3. The color brown
Fall is associated with big statement colors like orange and vibrant warm tones. But there’s a softer, cozy side to fall with rich neutrals, specifically brown or taupe, that not only provide warmth but provide a canvas to ground all other colors. It’s an easy color to overlook, but below are some products and inspiration.

The color brown has slowly been making a comeback the last couple of years. With all color trends, there is a natural trend cycle. Interestingly, brown typically makes appearance during times of uncertainty–specifically times we need grounding. Choose a deep brown paint color for a cozy feel or try a rich taupe that feels more sophisticated and elegant.
